A brief history
Chinatown of Bangkok is widely called “Yaowarat” for its location on the busy road in the middle of Bangkok. This 1-km-long road was built during the reign of King Rama V as a road which upheld commerce and trading alike. Initially, it was named by the King “Yuppharat Road” but was later changed to “Yaowarat” as we know it today. The road has housed several generations of both Chinese and Thai-Chinese descendants and still remains one of the prosperous business districts in Thailand.

MRT subway - Wat Mangkon Station (use exit 1 or 2 and walk through Soi Charoen Krung 16 to Yaowarat Road)

1. Grab some of the best street food in Bangkok from the stalls
